Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day (one of the two holidays of the year that are really important to me, the other being Christmas), I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on the eight things over the last year that I’m most thankful for.

I’m thankful for my family. My wife, my son, and my daughter are the center of my life. Every day, each one of them does something that fills me with joy and makes me realize that my life is a wonderful one.

I’m thankful for the conception and early health of our third child. He’s healthy (as far as we can tell), happy (he moved around a lot during the ultrasound and appeared to “wave” at us), and he’ll be arriving before we know it.

I’m thankful that the economic downturn wasn’t apocalyptic. I firmly believed that this wouldn’t happen, but when there’s a concern that’s shared by a lot of people I care about, I am still quite relieved when it does not come to pass.

I’m thankful for the success of The Simple Dollar. Over the last year, I’ve connected with countless people and added tens of thousands of readers. I have no idea why this has happened, but I’m glad that it has.

I’m thankful that my first book was published and the manuscript for my second book was completed. Last December, my first book was published and appeared in stores. Early this month, I handed in my manuscript for my second one. Both were small miracles in their own right.

I’m thankful for a sense of humor. Without humor, I don’t think I would be able to deal with much of the craziness that life can deal out.

I’m thankful for my ability to write. Without the ability to come up with ideas and translate them into words, I would never have the opportunities I have in life.

I’m thankful for my recovery from my illness. Last Thanksgiving, I was just starting to feel the effects of the single worst illness I’ve ever had in my life. There were times where I truly doubted that I would ever recover from it, but eventually I did.
